.
Before your session
HOW CAN I BOOK A SESSION?
You can book all sessions via the website. Either, GET IN TOUCH with me to discuss which support(s) you're interested in and we can arrange a session together. Alternatively, you can BOOK the support you know you're looking for by following the simple prompts online.
WHAT do I need to do before my first session?
Once your first session has been booked, you'll receive an email with a link to an intake form. Please read the session information provided and complete the intake form in full before attending your first session. If the intake form hasn't been completed in time, your session may have to be cancelled or rescheduled.
Also in preparation, it can be helpful to think about what prompted you to reach out to Yes Therapy or what you might be wanting to get out of sessions. If you've seen a therapist in the past it could be helpful to think about what you liked and didn’t like from those sessions. You can share your thoughts or ask me questions at any time.
what CAN I expect in MY FIRST SESSION?
When engaging in counselling for the first time or with a new therapist, some people may feel nervous about the unknown - and that's really normal. The first session is an opportunity for me to get to know you and to understand your circumstances and/or concerns. I'll be asking questions about your sexual and relationship history, family of origin and any goals you have for therapy. You don't have to answer anything that you don't feel comfortable to.
What set-up do I need for my telehealth session?
If you can, try to set yourself up in a quiet place where you feel comfortable chatting and won't get too distracted. For video calls, you'll need a laptop, tablet or mobile and internet connection. If you prefer a session over the phone, you'll just need a mobile or landline. It's a good idea to test your set-up prior to your session to prevent any delays.
Can I have a support person in session?
Yes! You can choose to have a support person or an interpreter in your sessions to help make you feel more comfortable or to assist with communication. So that I can best prepare for your session, when filling out the intake form, please note down your support person's name and their relationship to you or your preferences for an interpreter, like language and gender.

During your session
AM I ABLE TO DISCUSS MATTERS OUTSIDE OF SEXUAL and reproductive HEALTH?
Yes! You can talk to me about anything you feel comfortable in sharing. I have worked with people experiencing a range of psychosocial issues, including managing stress and anxiety, low mood and motivation, grief and loss, coping with chronic health conditions and physical/cognitive disability, low confidence and self-worth, body image issues and eating difficulties, substance misuse and addiction, self-harm and thoughts of suicide, cross-cultural concerns and migration, family violence and surviving trauma.
AM I ABLE TO HAVE A FACE-TO-FACE SESSION?
Yes! In-person sessions can be booked online. The Yes Therapy office is located at Unit 13 / 255 Drummond St, Carlton VIC 3053. The space is accessible from the street.
HOW LONG do SESSIONS go for?
All sessions run for 55 minutes.
What are the session fees?
Sessions for individuals are $200. Sessions for relationships are $230.
What age groups does yes. work with?
Therapy sessions are for people 15 years and over.
After your session
Can I claim A REBATE or use insurance for session fees?
Yes! Individual therapy sessions may be partly covered by Medicare with a GP Mental Health Care Plan, typically reducing the $200 session fee to around $112 out-of-pocket. You may be able to claim up to 10 sessions per calendar year. Please note that relationship therapy sessions are not eligible for Medicare rebates.
You may be able to claim individual or relationship sessions through your private health insurance, depending on your policy. It's a good idea to call your provider to check which psychological supports are covered.
HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED FURTHER SESSIONS?
Yes Therapy offers a flexible model of service for individual and relationship therapy – meaning you're not limited to a minimum number of sessions per person/relationship. If you're wondering how long or how often to engage with therapy, it would usually depend on your individual circumstances and goals. Some people benefit from solution-focused, short-term work. Others may need longer or more frequent support. You can talk to me about your intentions for therapy and together we can come up with a therapeutic plan that feels good to you.
CAN I HAVE ACCESS TO MY PERSONAL INFORMATION?
Yes! You can make a request to access and/or obtain copies of your personal information, including any session notes and resources at any time.
CAN I CHANGE TO ANOTHER THERAPIST OR SUPPORT SERVICE?
Yes! No matter what the circumstances or reasons are, you can always switch to another therapist or support service. The therapist-client relationship is a unique one. It is most important that you have a positive emotional connection with your therapist in order to feel secure and confident in sharing your story and working collaboratively through your therapeutic goals. If you feel that we might not be a match - that's ok. I'd be happy to provide any information about alternate pathways of care and to help make any referrals necessary to ensure you receive the support you need.
